Homework-solver apps vs. learning tools: what’s the difference?

Search "homework help" and you'll find two very different kinds of app. Knowing which is which protects your child's learning.

Type 1: the answer machine

Point the camera at a problem, get the solution. It feels like help, and for a stuck kid at bedtime it's irresistible. The problem: the struggle is where learning happens. Skip it, and the skill never forms — the test score tells the real story a week later.

Type 2: the practice builder

Instead of solving this problem, it generates more problems at the right level — worksheets, quizzes, prompts your child works through. The answer key is for you, the parent, to check against. The child still does the thinking.

How to tell them apart

Ask one question: does it do the work, or give my child more work to do?

| | Answer machine | Practice builder | |---|---|---| | Who thinks? | The app | The child | | Builds skills? | No | Yes | | Good for tests? | No | Yes |

Where TeacherFrame stands

TeacherFrame is firmly a practice builder. It creates worksheets, quizzes and reading at the right level for your child — and never hands over the answer to an assigned problem. That's a deliberate choice: we'd rather help your child get better than help them get done.
